Cam Newton Signs With Auburn

After what seems like an eternity of delays in making any sort of announcement, JUCO QB has decided that he will play football with the Auburn Tigers.  Auburn broke the news on their official (I assume) twitter feed a little after 4pm on December 31st. It was confirmed with a story on the alabama news site al.com.

Newton visited Mississippi State on the weekend after Thanksgiving, attending the Egg Bowl during his visit. He showed interest in State because Dan Mullen was the offensive coordinator at Florida when Newton was enrolled there.

So where does this leave Mississippi State at the QB position? Sophomore Chris Relf will return to the team, and redshirt freshman Tyler Russell will also be available to play.

Bulldogs will be fine...

To all the Bulldog faithful out there, don’t let this bother you too much. We’ve got a hell of a QB in Tyler Russell and after the way Chris Relf handled Ole Miss, I’m a lot more comfortable with him also. If there was ever a good year to have a heartbreak like this, it was this one.
