Dan Mullen On Birmingham Radio

Jay Barker and co. had new Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen on their radio show in Birmingham this morning. Here are some highlights:

  • He is excited about potential and future of the program and is also excited about the recruiting base within a 4 hour radius of Starkville.
  • State has always played great defense and just needed a good offense.
  • He will run a spread offense, but it will be taylored to the personnel on the team (what a novel idea!).

He also talks about the need for even more wide receivers for his offense. They have put a high priority on getting more receivers in the 2010 class.

We will get our first look at the Dan Mullen era at the spring game during Super Bulldog Weekend.

You can download his 11 minute interview and listen for yourself.

Recruiting in Shelby and Desoto Counties

Both of those counties are prime territory for high school football talent. Olive Branch has one of the best teams in the state. Go north of the Tennessee border and you’ve got plenty of talent in Shelby County. I would like to see Mullen get more recruits out of that area in the future. I think he did an amazing job of recruiting this season considering how late he got hired. By 2011, I believe Mullen will get the Dawgs back on track.
