LaDarius Perkins Named SEC Freshman of the Week

With Vick Ballard sitting out the UAB game to rest, it was time for LaDarius Perkins to shine at running back. He will clearly be the future back of choice since he is only a freshman, vs. Ballard and Elliot who are both upper classmen.

For his effort against UAB, Perkins was honored as the SEC Freshman of the Week.

  • Perkins rushed for a career-high 131 yards on 18 carries as he stepped up to replace the injured Vick Ballard in Mississippi State's 29-24 victory over UAB.
  • He scored both Bulldog touchdowns against the Blazers, one touchdown rushing and another receiving.
  • He had five carries for 69 yards in the fourth quarter, including a career-long 51 yarder on State's final scoring drive of the night.
