Stans Stays
After talking with Clemson over this past weekend, consulting his wife, Meo, and Billy Donovan (for some reason), Rick Stansbury has decided that he will not be the next coach at Clemson and has made it clear he is at Mississippi State for the long haul. He had a media event today to announce the news.
Stansbury has been at Mississippi State for 20 years, starting in 1990 as an assistant for Richard Williams. He has been head coach since 1998 and has a 255-136 record with six trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Outgoing AD Greg Byrne says that he intends to extend Rick's contract to 4 years (the maximum allowed by Mississippi), but there will be no raise involved.

I really think Stansbury has done an awesome job...
…but he probably should have taken that job. I want to think that he can build a serious Contender for the National Title, but I just think he’s done about as much as he can do there. I lived in Mississippi for the first 29 years of my life before moving to Chicago this year, and I’m eager to come back home once this school year is out, but it just seems to be too hard to get top level talent to come to Mississippi. It seems to be hard enough to the top talent in Mississippi to come there. Maybe that’ll change if Renardo Sidney hangs around and can actually get on the court next year.
