Manny Diaz At Top Of Texas DC List

PrintReports and rumors are swirling this morning that Manny Diaz is in Austin this morning to interview for the defensive coordinator position at Texas. Former Texas DC (and "coach in waiting") Will Muschamp is now the head coach at Florida.
Diaz came to Mississippi State this year from Middle Tennessee State and helped the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record with a fast, blitzing style of defense. He is currently the "co-defensive coodinator" along with Chris Wilson, who came to State from Oklahoma.
Diaz current salary at Mississippi State is around $260,000 and Texas definitely has the cash to sweeten that deal substantially. We will keep an eye on the situation and update as needed. Losing Diaz would be a big blow to a defense that is already losing key players this year, including Pernell McPhee, Chris White and K.J. Wright.

success. I hate to see him go, but it will eventually happen. I just hope we can hold on to Wilson.
