Tonights 59-14 victory over the Memphis Tigers was a big win for the Bulldogs, but it also held a special place in some notable aspects:
- Mississippi State eclipsed the 50-point mark in consecutive games for the first time since the 1914 season and only the fourth time in the 112-year history of MSU football.
-
The Bulldogs totaled a school-record 645 yards of total offense, bettering the previous mark of 596 set on Oct. 14, 1978, when they defeated Florida State on homecoming, 55-27.
- The Maroon and White recorded their widest margin of victory away from Scott Field since defeating Sewanee in Jackson, Miss., 68-0, on Oct. 31, 1936.
- Redshirt freshman Jameon Lewis’ 80-yard touchdown reception was the longest touchdown reception by a Bulldog since at least 1996 and only the second reception of at least 80-plus yards during that time.
