The Numbers Game - In the Red Zone

Taking a look at MSU and UT in the red zone, offense and defense.

In the red zone - where the magic happens. It's tough to get there, and of the utmost importance what you do when you get there.

Offense

Times in RZ FG or TD in RZ Conversion Rate Missed FG in RZ Turnovers in RZ TD% in RZ
Mississippi State 17 14 82.4% 2 0 64.7%
Tennessee 29 26 89.7% 2 1 62%

UT's 29 times into the red zone is the most in the SEC...and half the league has played one more game than they have.

Defense

Times in RZ FG or TD in RZ Conversion Rate Missed FG in RZ Turnovers In RZ TD% in RZ
Mississippi State 11 8 72.7% 1 2 45.5%
Tennessee 16 15 93.8% 0 1 50%

How about that - only 11 times has MSU let an opponent into their red zone...that is second best in the SEC behind Alabama.
