EA Sports NCAA '13 Simulation: Mississippi State vs Texas A&M

After last week's disappointing loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Coach Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs are looking to rebound with a big win over Texas A&M. Let's see how these two teams match up on the virtual grid iron.

First Quarter:

The Aggie's win the toss and decide to kick the ball off first. Jameon Lewis takes the opening kickoff and runs it all the way down the field for an immediate touchdown!!! Bulldogs already lead 7-0.

The Aggies will begin their first drive at the 22 yard line. Johnny Manziel trots onto the field to begin A&M's first attempt to put points on the board. He drops back to pass and is sacked for a loss on the play. It's now second and seventeen. The ball is handed off to Christine Michael for a nine yard gain. On third down the quarterback throws a quick pass to pick up several more yards but the Aggies are one yard short of a first down...they punt the ball away.

MSU will begin their next drive at their own 40. On first down Tyler Russell takes a shot down the field and his throw is nearly picked off. On second down Russell tries to run it himself and ends up losing a yard. It's third and eleven. Russell drops back to pass...getting good protection...he again throws a rocket down the field and again the receiver is well covered. Some way, some how, Ricco Sanders makes the catch and it's first and goal for the Bulldogs! On first down Russell tries to fake a hand off but it goes horribly wrong...Tyler ends up getting drilled by a defender and loses yards. On second down the ball is handed off to La Darius Perkins...Perkins makes a nice spin move to avoid a tackle and he strolls into the end zone untouched. Bulldogs now lead 14-0.

The Aggies try to keep it on the ground on first down and they lose a yard. On second down the quarterback can't find anyone open and decides to try and run it himself...he gets a couple of yards. On third down Manziel makes a quick pass that is caught and gets just enough for a first down. The next play sees Manziel put the ball in the air again. It's caught by Michael Lamothe for an eight yard gain. On second down the ball is handed off to the running back and the play gets enough for a first down. Manziel tries to throw deep down the field on the next play but the pass falls incomplete. The Aggies go to the ground again and pick up a few yards on second down. It's third and four now and Manziel returns to the air...he finds a receiver near the sideline and the pass is caught for a big gain. It looked as if the receiver stepped out as it was caught...no review is taking place so I guess it will stick. The Aggies are now flirting with the red zone...Manziel tries to find someone to throw to on first down but all his receivers are covered. He tucks it and runs and picks up a first down. Manziel is finally brought down at the MSU 9 yard line. On first down Manziel has to scramble again...he picks up two yards. On second down Manziel again has to scramble...he gets two more yards. For the third time in a row Manziel is forced to scramble...he goes no where this time and it's fourth and goal. Texas A&M settles for the field goal to put points on the board. Bulldogs still lead 14-3.

MSU will begin their next drive at the 30. Tyler Russell pitches a pass to Perkins and the back picks up enough for a first down. There is a flag on the play...off sides for Texas A&M. Penalty declined. Bulldogs are now at their 44 yard line. Russell fakes a hand off to Perkins on the next play...he keeps it himself and picks up a first down on the ground. Russell finally pushed out of bounds at the Aggie 36 yard line as the quarter expires. Bulldogs still lead 14-3.

2nd Quarter:

Another running play picks up four yards on first down. Russell lobs the ball to Brandon Holloway and he picks up enough for a first down. Bulldogs are now in the red zone. They run it on first down and pick up two yards. Russell drops back to pass on second down and hits Chris Smith on a slant...Smith catches the ball in stride and his next steps are into the end zone for another TD! Bulldogs now lead 21-3.

Just saw an injury report...Jameon Lewis has left the game with back spasms.

Aggies begin the next drive at the 20. They run it on first down and pick up the first with ease. Second down sees another run that picks up five. Manziel goes to the air on third down and hits Kenric McNeal for a first down. Aggies now at the 50. Manziel drops back to pass...he launches the ball to the end zone and is almost picked off. The running back gets it on the next play to pick up three yards. It's third and seven. He gives it to the back again and it's a loss on the play...Aggies punt.

Bulldogs begin the next drive at the 20. Back to back runs and the Bulldogs already have a first down. The next play is another run that picks up three. Russell runs it on second down and its now third and inches. Another run, another first down. Bulldogs at midfield. Russell gives it to Perkins again and #27 picks up another first down. MSU now at the Aggie 38. Perkins gets the ball again and picks up three. Time is beginning to dwindle away now...Bulldogs take a time out wiht a minute and thirty seconds remaining. Russell throws a pass on the next play...its incomplete. Perkins tries to run it on third down but comes up a yard short. On 4th and one the Bulldogs go for it and get enough to pick up a first down and continue the drive! Russell hits Chad Bumphis with a quick pass to pick up another first down. It's now 1st and goal. Bulldogs take a time out to conserve time. Just over a minute left in the half. They keep it on the ground on the next play...Bulldogs pick up a few yards and are now at the Aggie 5 yard line. Tyler Russell drops back to pass....he's looking....he finally throws a bullet to the back corner of the end zone and right into the hands of a wide open Brandon Heavens. Bulldogs now lead the game 28-3.

There is 52 seconds left for the Aggies to try and get a score in before the half. They begin the next drive at the 26 yard line. The quarterback hands it off to the half back for one yard gain. On second down Manziel, for reasons unknown, lets the clock dwindle down before throwing. The pass is incomplete and leaves one second on the clock. Texas A&M run it to get the last second off the clock and go to the locker room without spending any of their time outs.

Bulldogs lead at half time 28-3

3rd Quarter:

Aggies begin the second half at the 26 yard line. Manziel completes a pass for a five yard gain. On second down he is forced to scramble and picks up the other five on the ground. On first down Manziel drops back to pass but hes got maroon jerseys swarming all over him...he's sacked for a loss! It's now second and sixteen. Again Manziel can't find anyone open...he runs and makes it a third and nine situation. Manziel sacked again for a loss. Aggies punt the ball away.

MSU begins their next drive at the 32. Russell fakes a hand off and picks up nine yards. On second and one he makes a quick throw to Chris Smith...Smith runs down the side line and isn't pushed out until he reaches the A&M 18 yard line! Bulldogs keep it on the ground on first down...Perkins tackled for a one yard loss. On second down Russell makes a quick pass to Chad Bumphis...the pass is caught and Bumphis is shoved out of bounds on the 1 yard line. Russell hands it to Perkins and the back plows across the goal line. Bulldogs now lead 35-3.

The Aggies begin the next drive on their 18. Manziel fires a missile across the field and the pass is caught by the receiver...he turns to run and is hit hard by a Bulldog defender...FUMBLE...Jonathon Banks falls on the ball and Bulldogs get the ball again deep in Aggie territory!

Russell drops back to pass on first down...he throws a beautiful pass and finds Chris Smith again in the end zone. Bulldogs now lead it 42-3.

Aggies begin their drive at the 25. Manziel scrambles for a three yard gain. He's sacked on second down. Manziel throws a pass toward the side line...Jamerson Love leaps into the air and intercepts it! Bulldogs again have the ball deep in Aggie territory!

Tyler Russell hands the ball to Perkins on first down...he picks up five yards. Second down sees Russell run it himself...Bulldogs now at third and inches. Perkins runs it again for the first down. On first down Tyler once again hits his favorite receiver in the end zone...Chris Smith scores his third TD of the game! It's getting ridiculous now...Bulldogs lead it 49-3.

Manziel and the Aggies will once again try to get something going on offense. They begin the drive at the 25. Manziel throws a deep pass and...you guessed it...intercepted. This time it's Jonathon Banks. Bulldogs take over at their own 35.

Russell gives it to Perkins for a five yard gain. Russell throws a beautiful pass down field and Chad Bumphis is sprinting ahead of the Aggie defenders...he has to slow up slightly to catch the ball and is tackled at the A&M eleven yard line. Tyler Russell pitches the ball to Perkins...he misses it! The ball is loose on the field but fortunately it wobbles out of bounds before anyone can jump on it. It's second and fourteen. Russell tries the same play again...this time it works...Bulldogs now in a third and five situation. Russell can't find anyone to throw to and is sacked for a loss as the quarter expires. Bulldogs still lead 49-3.

4th Quarter:

Bulldogs kick the easy field goal and now lead it 52-3.

A&M takes over at the 11 yard line. Manziel finally completes a good pass down field and the receiver runs all the way to the end zone untouched. After the Aggie score, the Bulldogs still lead 52-10.

Aggies try and unsuccessful onside kick. Bulldogs take over at the Aggie 44. Dak Prescott now in the game. He scrambles on first down for a six yard gain. Dak goes to the end zone with a deep pass...and hes intercepted! Aggies take over at their own one yard line.

The Aggies seemingly try the exact same play they scored with last time...and it works exactly the same way. A&M score another TD. Bulldogs now lead it 52-17. Are the Aggies trying to make a comeback???

Another onside kick...another recovery by the Bulldogs.

MSU takes over at their own 41. A pitch to Perkins goes no where....five yard loss on the play. Prescott throws a pass on second down and hits Bumphis for a first down. Prescott hit as he throws on the next play...somehow he gets the ball into the hands of Perkins. Perkins runs up the side line and gets a first down and more. He's tackled at the Aggie 26 yard line. Prescott throws a pass on the next play...he hits Rufus Warren for the completion. Warren tackled at the one yard line. Bulldogs now bleeding clock...play clock runs all the way down before the ball is snapped. When its finally in Prescott's hands, the quarterback runs it in himself for another TD. Bulldogs now lead it 59-17 with right at two minutes left in the game.

Aggies begin their drive at the 25. After a couple of incomplete passes, Manziel finally completes one to a receiver down field. Aggies get a first down and are now at the MSU 48. Flag on the field before the next play...false start on the Aggies. Second down and Manziel goes to the air again...Jonathon Banks gets to the ball first and it's another INT for MSU.

Bulldogs now really working the clock. The first play is a run by Perkins to pick up nine yards. Less than a minute left now...Prescott takes a knee the rest of the way to finally end the game.

MSU wins it big!

Final score: MSU 59 A&M 17
