State Loses to Samford, 3-2; Season Over

The Dawgs couldn't get past Samford in the Tallahassee Regional...as they lose before ever getting a shot at Florida State. Questionable bunting calls in the early innings while State was hitting well (and Wes Rea was the lead runner) might be the lasting image of this game. Things were going along perfectly with MSU leading 2-1 in the 7th and Johnathon Holder on - but he gave up his first runs of the year (one earned) and Samford went on to win 3-2. Got to hand it to Samford, they beat our All-American pitcher, Chris Stratton, and our record-setting closer, Johnathon Holder. MSU ends the season 40-24. We'll have more wrap up on the blog this week...after we let this loss stew for a little while.
