Mississippi State Softball Rallies and Advaces over MVSU in Mobile


The Mississippi State Bulldogs found themselves four outs from seeing their season end, but a two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth powered the Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over Mississippi Valley State in Game 4, an elimination game, in the WCWS Mobile Regional.

In that sixth inning, Jessica Cooley smashed a ball over the center field wall to tie the game at 1-1, and Shelby Fisher drove in the deciding run in the form of Briana Bell to give Mississippi State a 2-1 lead.

Allison Owen tossed a perfect seventh inning to seal the complete game victory.

Mississippi State advances to face South Alabama, the No.1 seed in the region, in an elimination game at 6:10. The Lady Jaguars defeated Mississippi Valley State Friday before dropping a 2-1 decision to Florida State in game three of the regional.

The winner between the Bulldogs and Lady Jaguars will have to defeat Florida State twice Sunday to advance to Super Regional play.
