While most of the Croom Era ended in losing seasons, Bulldog fans had to feel a glimmer of hope when Mississippi State won the 2007 Liberty Bowl. For most of that game, those in attendance slowly lost feeling in their extremities as they watched Mississippi State and Central Florida play to a 3-3 tie through 58 minutes of action.
Fortunately for the Maroon and White faithful, Anthony Dixon made the short plunge across the goal line to cap a 10-play, 59-yard drive to put Mississippi State up for good.
The win was the first bowl victory for Mississippi State since the 2000 Independence Bowl.
