Mississippi State National Signing Day 2014: Logan Cooke signs with MSU

The talented kicker/punter out of south Mississippi officially joins the Bulldog family this morning with his signed NLI submitted.

National Letters of Intent (NLI) continue to roll in this morning, and Mississippi State's special teams recruit is now signed and accounted for, as Logan Cooke officially became a Bulldog this morning.

Cooke, who was selected to play in the 2014 Offense-Defense All-American game, becomes the second Bulldog recruit for the class of 2014 to sign, the school announced today through a statement on the MSU Football Twitter account.

While Cooke comes in a bit under the radar due to playing at a small academy, he will most likely get the opportunity to come in and contribute right away.  Nothing is promised as to Cooke's ability to beat out any of the stalwarts on special teams this fall, but there seems to be a strong chance that we could see Logan be an immediate impact guy this fall.

Bully HeadFWtCTrecruitings's Quick Thoughts

Punters and kickers never get the pub that the skill position players might, but with MSU's struggles in the kicking game last year, Cooke is a name to watch in this class.  Talking with people from the Columbia area, this kid has a serious leg, and has the accuracy to challenge in the kicking game.  If nothing else, Logan should come in and immediately push Bell, Sobiesk and others for a starting spot.  Even if he doesn't get it, MSU still gets some improved special teams play because of him pushing those players to get better, and a kicker for the future in Cooke.
