Maybe we jumped the gun on MSU Baseball

We all remember Game 2 of the 2013 CWS Finals. UCLA blanked MSU 8-0 showing that MSU did not have the better team(but now I still hate UCLA, cant wait to play the and the team that has won the most national championships in college baseball in USC in 2016 at Dodger Stadium). But after that game we all said that we would be back the next year. I for one was skeptical knowing how difficult it was to even get into that position(just ask FSU). So this year in every test we had we failed, When we traveled to Arizona, UCSB and Arizona ran us out of Tucson with MSU lucky to get 1 win. Well I will say if there is one thing we did right it was defeating Vanderbilt 18-2. After they defeated and swept us the previous year it felt great. Next we were dying to play LSU. If you remember that was the week where LSU was just swept by Florida and we had just defeated Arkansas. Suddenly we were #1 in the West and they were #7. We wanted to win a series against them for the first time since 2006 and we still could not achieve that. After a scrappy win against USM on Tuesday we went to play Ole Miss who had gotten swept by Alabama not too long ago. We were lucky to win a game against Ole Miss. It was awful just to see how much better they were than us. We lost 12-2 to Ole Miss on that Sunday and 17-4 to LSU the previous Sunday. We did not look good against the good competition. After we sweep Mizzou we cannot even win the series against A&M at DNF. This out of all the losses maybe just the most disappointing of them all. I guess you will notice that we went pretty smooth up until the last game of Alabama. Wes Rea had multiple opportunities to win the SEC West against Alabama but we just could not win the west(in his defense we hurt ourselves by not winning the series against Ole Miss or A&M). I cant really complain about the SEC Tournament. The Kentucky game was upsetting bc I knew the loser would go home bc of how late the game, pitching, Florida the next day, etc. So losing to Florida was no surprise(and probably good for MSU pitching if they wanted hope for the NCAA Regional).

You know how the Lafayette Regional went. We were sloppy Sunday Night Fielding against ULL which kind of looked like Sunday LSU and Ole Miss and the Tuscon series. But ULL just was simply dominant that night and we helped them(though it did not matter bc they would win no matter what that night). We then play them Monday and as you say Lindgren saved and ruined our chance in the Regional. He got us out of some of the most dangerous situations but then again he created them. Here is a perspective on how we could of won. If Lingren would not have thrown so many wild pitches which I saw account for 3 runs for ULL, then MSU would've won 3-2 and we would be talking about the MSU- Ole Miss super regioanl(which I did not want to play). So you can say at the end of the day we beat ourselves from playing Ole Miss in the Super Regional. It is frustrating knowing if we would not have lost to Holy Cross twice that we could be hosting a Regional. But let me say that it is probably a good thing we did not play Ole Miss. It would have been a High Risk High Reward series to say the least. Sure if we would have beat them at their own turf that it would make us look so great on the national stage that it is not even funny, But Ole Miss plays its best ball against us anyway(not to mention we would have to travel back there in 2015) and if they did defeat us going to their first CWS in 30+ years. We as MSU fans would be more disappointed than in anytime before(could be compared to 2012 Alabama Football Game). So maybe it was good that we lost to ULL on Monday(they did not defeat us). But I guess everyone wants to look at the future of MSU Baseball.

First of all where is the 2015 SEC Baseball schedule? It seemed to have been released by now last year(in fact it seems to be released later year after year). From what we know, we will be playing in Houston from a NC standpoint against some good teams. Of course we always play Ole Miss an USM in Pearl. And we will(should) play these SEC Teams for sure: at Ole Miss vs LSU vs Auburn at Texas A&M vs Alabama at Arkansas. And of course 4 random SEC East Teams(hopefully SC and UF the tougher the better). And we will look a little bit more on who we have after the MLB draft which is June 5-7 which is not too far away. Hopefully the offense gets better and the pitchers maintain there same type of dominance.

I will close on this. Do you not get tired time after time hearing about how great LSU is and their fans when our fans have proved time after time that they are better? Are you tired of Ole Miss claiming how much of rednecks we are for having the Left Field Lounge when they just pour Beer on themselves in their outfield? Well first we have to win a CWS to gain any respect and always make a Regional from now on if we want any respect. You might think we have some but that is all gone since we were the 2013 NCAA CWS Runner Ups and not 2014(2014 Lafayette Runner Ups are not going to give you the same respect). Maybe I will write an article later on why MSU and LSU is the best Rivalry in College Baseball. That sounds fun!

Thanks for taking the time to Read and be sure to leave a comment on how great, wrong, and terrible this article is! And we will win next year on the SEC Network!
