MSUs chances in Death Valley

I looked it up today and according to Wikipedia the last time LSU lost a game at home to an unranked opponent was in 2001 to our friends to the North the Mississippi Blackbears. Led by Eli Manning they later lost at MSU that season. SO what do teams that beat LSU at Death Valley at night seem to have in common? The last 2 were Alabama(2012) and Florida(2009). And in fact the only other 2 I see in between those and 01 Ole Miss is Tennessee(05) and Alabama(02). It seems that 4 out of the five were ranked in the top 10 and the last 2 to defeat LSU at Death Valley were #1. MSU only has the characteristic of Ole Miss being unranked. The next seems to be that the team is led by a one of the nations best QBs. Ole Miss had Eli Manning, Florida had Tebow, and Alabama had Mccarron. MSU had Dak Prescott so that should help. And finally you have to Make sure that LSU does not show up or make mistakes. 2012 made mistakes. 2009 made mistakes(really outmatched). 2005 coming after Hurricane Katrina didn't show up. 2002 lost 31-0 didn't show up. 2001 made mistakes. SO as you can see unless you are the #1 team in the nation, you are going to have to steal it from them. There are many other examples of teams almost beating LSU at night South Carolina(2012), Auburn(2007), Auburn(2013). The list goes on.

As you can see from the history above this is going to be a tough game. What helps us is that we have a really good rushing defense and we have a solid rushing and passing game(just a good offense in general). We will get to see this week if we can put similar numbers on LSU this week while not playing Vanilla like we have against our first 3 opponents. The kicking game looks improved so hopefully we can make xp(how confident are you that we can make a field goal?) And the secondary still is questionable to me. TO me the only difference between UAB and USA was that UAB was catching balls while USA wasn't. I am just going to say that because the secondary played so vanilla and were without Justin Cox, that they were either not up for the game or it was so hot that their mind wasn't on either game(LSU is at night so the heat shouldn't be a factor). SO offensive Touchdowns are key for us winning this game and if we can put enough pressure on Jennings to shut their offense down. Will this be enough in the newly expanded Death Valley that now seats over 100,000(More than ALA less than A&M(Yeah this is scary)).

Since the conference expanded to 12 teams back in 1992, MSU has defeated LSU only once in 1999 where many fans on both sides see that it is controversial on whether MSU scored the winning TD(my opinion is if LSU wins every other game since 92 give us that one). The last time we were even close to defeating LSU was in 2009 Mullen's first year. LSU just seems to have our number for the past 2 decades.

Now the question is will we out coach them and that answer is easily yes because every SEC Coach(besides Derek Mason) Out coaches Les Miles there is no question about it. Wisconsin out coached them, Ole Miss out coached them last year, Auburn did, Alabama did, yes we did last year, and even Arkansas out coached LSU last year(however Arkansas looks really good this year and will beat LSU at Arkansas later this season). But will us out-coaching them be able to win it? Want proof that we out coached him in 2012? Check this GIF out of Les Miles eating grass against us in 2012.

My final verdict is this: while LSU has had MSUs number streaks are meant to end. This is by far my least confident game of the season. It seems to me we have the better team but I do not know how we will do against the wild card. But my final Score MSU 27(miss and xp) LSU 17. Go out there Dak rally your team to defeat the team that thought you were not good enough to play QB at #DakAttack #Hailstate!!!
