After a disappointing start to the 2013 season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs will look to bounce back in week two as they open up the home schedule for the season against instate FCS foe Alcorn State. Although a season opening loss has dampened the spirits of some, there is still plenty to be excited about as MSU plays their first home game in the 2013 season.
The Alcorn State Braves comes in 1-0 on the year under second year head man Jay Hopson. Hopson's Braves destroyed NAIA foe Edward Waters last weekend, 63-12, and they come in with a great deal of confidence in their offensive abilities. Unfortunately though for the Braves MSU is not NAIA, and an improved Bulldog defense will look to shut down the Alcorn attack.
Before kickoff today, make sure you get caught up on today's game with our Big Preview, as well all of our other MSU vs. Alcorn State coverage in our storystream.
Game Time: 2:30 P.M. CT
Location: Scott Field at Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, Mississippi
Announcers: Mike Morgan, Cole Cubelic, Paul Carcaterra
For those of us who could not make it to what promises to be an extremely balmy Starkville this weekend, unfortunately our viewing options are limited. If you cut on your DirecTv or UVerse five minutes before gametime on Saturday, then you might be disappointed to find that Comcast Sports Southeast is not in your lineup of hundreds of channels. For those that don't mind watching on a computer though, there are streaming options....
Live Online Stream: For those of you who are familiar with WatchESPN, the game will be available on there for streaming [MSU vs. Alcorn St. Game here]. Just make sure you bookmark that link for when gametime nears. NOTE: if you have not dealt with WatchESPN before, State fans, it does require you to have a specific internet service provider. The list is long, so you might want to log on early to make sure your provider is included and you will be able to view the game. [EDIT TO ADD] we've been told (h/t @CoastalCowbell1) that the game is also available via the ESPN App on your XBox gaming system.
Another potential avenue for viewing today's game is the ESPN Gameplan package. If you have that package with ESPN, their TV lineup seems to indicate that the game will be available through ESPN Gameplan. A quick search of the DirecTV channel guide shows the game appearing on channel 788, available through Gameplan. So if you have it, enjoy!
If you do not have CSS, Gameplan, or an internet service provider that can grant you access to WatchESPN, then your best bet may just be to hit up your local sports bar or restaurant for this one, State fans. With it being Alcorn State, the viewing options are obviously limited. Things should be much improved for next week.
