Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

MSU will now be without center Wendell Lewis for a minimum of eight weeks, leaving the Bulldogs with six scholarship players going forward until Jalen Steele returns.

You thought it could not get any worse, MSU basketball fans. You thought: there's no way this team could sustain another injury this season. Welp, you (and I and everyone else) were wrong.

Mississippi State, after losing Jacoby Davis and Andre Applewhite to ACL tears, after losing Jalen Steele to a fractured wrist, after sending packing Kristers Zeidaks and Shaun Smith, will now add to the list yet another roster blow today as Wendell Lewis suffers a fractured right patella.

MSU will go forward now with six, yes that reads correctly, SIX, scholarship players. The original thought was that Jalen Steele could return at the end of this month, but we still do not know the extent of his rehab process or the definite timetable for his return.

Best wishes to Wendell on his road to recovery.
