Clarksdale duo J.T. Gray and Elgton Jenkins commit to Mississippi State

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

The talented safety and offensive lineman came in for official visits to MSU this weekend, and both left with offers and commitments to sign with State.

Tee Shepard was a huge addition to the 2014 MSU class with his commitment this afternoon, but he was not the only recruit to make that pledge today.

Safety J.T. Gray and offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins, both of Clarksdale, Mississippi, have given their commitment to Mississippi State today, and the duo will sign with the Bulldogs on Wednesday.

Gray had been on MSU's radar for awhile now, and apparently the talented safety's visit went well enough to see him pledge to the Bulldogs.  Gray was reportedly down to MSU and Iowa State, and he visited the Cyclones this past weekend.  He is a three star prospect according to all of the major recruiting services (24/7, Rivals, Scout).

Gray's teammate, Elgton Jenkins, was a late addition to the Bulldog's offensive lineman board after former commit Sean Rawlings flipped to Ole Miss and target Bunchy Stallings committed to Kentucky earlier in the week.  Jenkins, who stands at 6'5" and 275 pounds, has the size and frame to be an SEC lineman with some time in practice and the weight program at MSU.  Some may worry with State offering a fairly unknown prospect this late, but it's important to remind concerned State fans that Dan Mullen's staff has turned two and three star lineman such as Gabe Jackson, Dillon Day and Justin Malone into everyday SEC starters.  Jenkins has the potential to do the same.

Even with Gray, Jenkins and Shepard all committing today, there's a chance that the Bulldogs may not be done bringing aboard new members for this class.  State probably won't learn of Marcus Griffin's decision until National Signing Day, but there's a chance we could know something on targets Cory Thomas and O.J. Smith soon.  We will keep you updated as things happen.  As was the case with Shepard, State fans should be pumped about seeing these two contribute in maroon and white one day soon.
