4* Butler CC LB Tommy Sanders has committed to Texas A&M, 247 Sports reports tonight.
Sanders committed to the Aggies over MSU, South Carolina, and Ohio State.
Sanders, at one time, was considered to potentially have MSU near the top of his list, but reportedly always had A&M at or near the top, and this evening, made that official by committing to the Aggies.
Sanders finally ended all speculation tonight with his commitment to A&M. He will sign with the Aggies tomorrow in the first day of the JUCO signing period, his father tells 247.
Overall, this isn't a huge miss for MSU. Admittedly, State fans had their hopes up a bit last week as Tommy listed State as a finalist, but that changed multiple times since then and his commitment this evening.
State's attention now fully turns toward the decisions of Lavon Hooks and Za'Darius Smith. Hooks is the number one rated JUCO prospect and a talented 5* defensive tackle out of Northeast Mississippi CC. Hooks is expected to commit and sign with either MSU, Ole Miss, or Washington as early as tomorrow.
Smith is a highly sought after defensive end from East Mississippi CC, and is, like Sanders, expected to have the Bulldogs and Aggies in his top favorites. As a State fan, you have to hope/wonder that the Aggies taking Sanders as a part of their near-capacity class will not leave room for Smith, leaving State at the forefront of his favorites list. Stay tuned, as Hooks and Smith decisions could come soon.
