One of the nation's closest watched recruiting dramas over the last week or so has officially come to an end, as 5* NECC DT Lavon Hooks has signed with Ole Miss.
The news was first reported by the Gwinnett Daily Post, the hometown newspaper of Hooks.

Lavon Hooks is originally from Norcross, Georgia. He played for Meadowcreek High School. His high school was winless in his two seasons of football. Hooks was a basketball player, however. He did not care for football as much yet. That is until his coach showed him how good he could be. Ole Miss then placed him at Northeast Community College in Mississippi. There he played basketball and emerged as one of the top junior college defensive tackles in the country. He was recently named Mississippi JUCO defensive lineman of the year. That is prestigious because many of the top junior colleges and junior college talent is right here in Mississippi. Hooks was played a couple of positions this season such as tight end, defensive end, and defensive tackle.
Hooks' recruitment was pretty much just Ole Miss until about a month an a half ago, when other teams came into the mix. Ole Miss got serious about him, but that wasn't enough to keep schools like MSU, Auburn, Nebraska, Miami, Washington, and many others from coast to coast from getting involved. Hooks remained a mystery until the very end.
