Cathey is speedster of the Jameon Lewis mold who will most likely come in and be a return man and slot receiver for State, much as Lewis has been in his career in Starkville. This past season for the Longhorns, Cathey [full stats] received 352 yards through the air and rushed for 352 yards as well on ground, but what stood out was his return yard average. Nikia averaged a robust 40.36 yards per return on punts in 2012 and 48.73 yards per return on kickoffs.
Although Mississippi State was Cathey's only offer so far, he has already been receiving a good deal of interest from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Memphis, among other programs.
Also of note: Cathey was/is being recruited by Bulldog wide receivers coach Tim Brewster.
