Picture of The Night: Auburn Game

Meo Stansbury, y'all (AP Photo/Rogelio V. Solis)

And it really wasn't even close you guys. Whoever took this picture deserves a raise of the 15 digit degree. This picture, in one moment, exemplifies everything we've come to know and love from "Mamma Meo" Stansbury. She's loud, she's supportive, she prays at halftime. COACHES WIFE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PAAAWWWLLL.

Note: This photo came in second.

Fairly sure this picture can be captioned like this:

"Frank I caught a fish at Browning Creek this week and it was THIS big"

State Outlasts Auburn 91-88 at the Hump

Moultrie_blow_up_head_medium

Aww yeah girl

In a game that kinda had a weird feel to it, State pulled out a 91-88 victory this afternoon over the Auburn Tigers at Humphrey Coliseum. From Dee Bost fouling out, to Shaun Smith's extended minutes, to technical being called on Rodney Hood (Rodney Hood!), the game had a bizarro feel from start to finish.

Arnett Moultrie led the way for State with 21 points, and fellow low poster Renardo Sidney chipped in 17. State had to do without floor general Dee Bost a good deal late in the game, as he committed his 4th foul with over 8 minutes still left in the game and fouled out with about 3 minutes left to play. Brian Bryant covered well for Bost though, dishing out 9 assists. Check out the full official stats here (courtesy Bulldog Sports Radio).

Cheering for Mississippi State Basketball | FAQ

Recently there's been some grumblings about the atmosphere inside Humphrey Coliseum on gamedays. Some blame the student section for lack of effort, some blame old people for being lethargic in their partaking of the game.

I blame global warming, but that theory really doesn't seem to be catching on.

No matter who the blame falls upon, we obviously want to correct this issue as soon as we can. Our team needs our support, and today we get a chance to show that we can still be one of the loudest crowds in the SEC.

But you may be asking yourself, hey, what all does cheering involve? How do i support my team properly? Will I ever find love? Well, we can't help you with that last question, but to help out with the first two, we've compiled a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list in anticipation of what you may be wondering about in order to achieve maximum fan support from here on out when you attend a basketball game.

WHEN is it acceptable to cheer? The whole game. Start cheering and yelling when you get out of the car. Tell the old lady taking tickets how much you like her sweater at maximum volume. Don't worry her heart can take it. The point is, from the time you enter to the time you leave, you should be focused on supporting your team. Facebook, gossip, WORDS WITH FRIENDS, all these things can wait until after the game. It's two hours of your life. We're not talking about a long time here. Whether you yell from start to finish of the game really is up to you in the end, but the point is, be supportive.

Friday Fangraph: SEC 2011 Plays From Scrimmage, 50+ Yards

Photo

Digging on cfbstats.com yesterday I stumbled across this stat, which I thought was neat/random/probably pointless. Of plays from scrimmage for SEC teams in 2011, only Trent Richardson had more plays of 50+ yards than State senior RB Vick Ballard. Richardson finished with 5, while Ballard (and Florida Gator Andre Dubose) finished with 4.

Now that I think back over the entire season, I do remember Ballard breaking off those runs. Picking through miniscule stats? Sure, but it's still neat to me. Especially when you consider the big play threats of the SEC such as Joe Adams, Alshon Jeffery, and many more. Here's the full list.

Richie Brown Nephew Baby Memes

It's Friday, and I really am trying my hardest to avoid work. That being said, I figured you probably were trying your best to avoid work too. So here's some memes of the "Richie Brown-Nephew-Committment" photo so many of you saw yesterday when Brown used his nephew to announce his decision to sign with State. The baby is adorable, but also has a "lets-be-serious-guys" tone in his face in the picture.

Here is that picture with some words on it as well.

FWtCT's Radio Show | National Signing Day Discussions

It's Friday, so we did another radio show for you guys, because we thought you might need some entertaining.

I went Cowherd style again this week, but the show was a short one as I was unprepared and outside of NSD, there wasn't much to discuss. I promise you guys a better show next week! May even have something special in the works for ya, I'll keep you informed.

On today's show we talked, of course, about National Signing Day and how State fared after the dust was settled, we talked about State's upcoming stretch of home games and how vital they are to our success, and we talked about how you should go check out the tennis team this afternoon if you get a chance.

DO IT.

Here's the link to the show, or you can listen in the audio player below (we fancy). And if you have Bulldog Sports Radio then make sure to check us out in the lineup today probably around lunch time.

Enjoy.

For Whom the Links Toll | Post-NSD, Pre-Auburn 2.3.2012

After last weeks loss and a week of rest, Dee Bost and the Bulldogs will try to get back on track against Auburn tomorrow at home (AP Photo/Phil Sandlin)

Friday's here again, and before you start cranking out those TPS reports this morning, take a look at these links we've put together for ya.

Bulldogs close deal on Brown duo | Clarion Ledger

"They all thought I was going to Oxford for my Ole Miss official visit, and instead I showed up there and surprised them," said Brown, who did not go public with his commitment until Wednesday. "I was sitting in their office when they walked in and committed."

It certainly quelled the anxiety in MSU's offices in the Bryan Building last weekend. Fans, though, had to wait until National Signing Day to hear Brown's decision, which provided the final piece to the Bulldogs' defensive-heavy recruiting puzzle: a four-star linebacker and the state's only Parade All-American.

Less than two hours earlier, Florence, Ala., linebacker Beniquez Brown picked MSU. Auburn reportedly offered him a scholarship at 5:45 a.m. At his signing ceremony, he faked out friends and family by lifting an Auburn hat before trading it for the maroon of MSU.

As a part of a skit entitled "Subs across America" last night, late night host Jimmy Fallon sang about subs while people tossed the subs from one location to another. One of those locations? Our own tailgating paradise, The Junction. Junction sub tossing is at the 2:38 mark (video property of NBC)
