State appeared to be afraid of the Tiger last night too (via i.dailymail.co.uk)

I doubt anyone who watched last night's game is in a spectacular mood this morning, nevertheless we must press on. Outside of action in Baton Rouge yesterday, the softball team moved to 5-0, and we crept one day closer to opening day at The Dude. So before you rush off to work to meet with a man whose volume that early is completely unnecessary (that's what I'm doing), take a look at these links that I have just compiled for your right here because I am so thoughtful.

That's all for now you guys. Have a great morning, and if you're in a bad mood let the Black Keys help you out with that.

Another weekend has passed us by you guys, and another work/school week begins. This weekend saw the men's basketball team take a loss, but the women prevailed, as did the softball team. State sports will have a busy week this week, with the men going on the road to LSU and Auburn, and baseball starting up Friday with a home series against Washington State. Here are a few links from around the Bulldog nation to help get your Monday started off right.

Friday's here again, and before you start cranking out those TPS reports this morning, take a look at these links we've put together for ya.

Bulldogs close deal on Brown duo | Clarion Ledger

"They all thought I was going to Oxford for my Ole Miss official visit, and instead I showed up there and surprised them," said Brown, who did not go public with his commitment until Wednesday. "I was sitting in their office when they walked in and committed."

It certainly quelled the anxiety in MSU's offices in the Bryan Building last weekend. Fans, though, had to wait until National Signing Day to hear Brown's decision, which provided the final piece to the Bulldogs' defensive-heavy recruiting puzzle: a four-star linebacker and the state's only Parade All-American.

Less than two hours earlier, Florence, Ala., linebacker Beniquez Brown picked MSU. Auburn reportedly offered him a scholarship at 5:45 a.m. At his signing ceremony, he faked out friends and family by lifting an Auburn hat before trading it for the maroon of MSU.

    For Whom the Links Toll | Post-Florida, Pre-NSD 1.31.2012

    Photo

Mornin', y'all. Well State didn't fare as well as we'd hoped this weekend, but a Wednesday off followed by 3 home games promises to be a positive upturn for our forseeable futures as Bulldog fans. Additionally, National Signing Day NSD, aka OMGEEEEEE HE SIGNED WITH WEEEEE) is just a day away, and some of the late deciding recruits are adding their names to lists all across the country. here's some links on basketball, NSD and even some campus non-sports news! #HailState

    - Late Surge Dooms Dogs in Road Loss | Brandon Marcello

"We helped it slip away," MSU coach Rick Stansbury said. "We had some turnovers there."

The Bulldogs committed 15 turnovers and couldn't force the Gators into mistakes. Florida turned the ball over only once in the second half (five times in the game) and connected on 11 of 24 3-pointers.

Florida's Bradley Beal and Erik Murphy were a combined 7-for-11 on 3-pointers. Beal led the Gators with 19 points and Murphy added 14 as four Gators scored in double figures.

State was within striking distance for most of the game. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Gators 34-26 and attempted 14 free throws to the Gators' seven (their first made free throw came with 1:13 remaining).

2012 Football Look Ahead: Wide Receiver, Tight End | Brad Locke

    Likely starters: Bumphis, Clark, Smith

Overall grade: B. This is a tough group to grade. It wasn't as productive last season as I expected it to be, although we saw some really nice things from Clark and Smith. Bumphis has to reach that next level, because Lewis will be gunning for his job in the slot.

Depth grade: A. So much experience returning here. Lewis needs to get more involved, and Morrow offers the kind of big target MSU has lacked.
