Beat writer in front row: Hey coach, good to be back here with ya. Um, I was wondering if you could tell us a little bit about what you expect out of the pitching staff this season?

well i'm glad you asked that, matt. I expect the staff to be deep, and I expect that almost every pitcher we have can go out and throw between 1 and 100 pitches any ball game.

Today the SEC football coaches held one of their semi-annual meetings in Birmingham. What they were there to discuss isn't relevant, but how they were dressed sure is. Every man has his own taste in clothing and accessories, but every man also has the right to assess and/or judge those men's choices in stitching. Here's a little background information on a what we suspect a few of the coaches were thinking with their attire

Nick Saban, Alabama:

"put me next to the tall, dark and handsome black man will ya? honey, where's my grey blazer and platform shoes?"

Will Muschamp, Florida:

"HELLO, TARGET?!?!? YES, YOUR FINEST LEATHER JACKET PLEASE!!!! And yes please also my usual order of 45393456834238 pallets of Red Bull"

Gene Chizik, Auburn:

"...ah, sure, thanks for asking commish, my shoulder feels much bette..."

/pulls out gun

"EVERYBODY ON THE FLOOR WITH YOUR WALLETS UP. DADDY NEEDS A NEW QB!"

This past week State released an All-Century team as a part of the celebration of 100 years of Mississippi State basketball. This talented list included great Bulldog names such as Jeff Malone and Darryl Wilson. But when you look at the great men on that list and judge them by the vowels and consonants that construct their names, is there really greatness?

Bailey Howell, one of the best all-time and certainly one of the top 5 best in State's history. But his name? I mean it's just plain, straight forward. There's no pizazz to it, no string of xyzvb's, no irony, no giggle factor.

Thanks to the outstanding folks that run our great school's media relatin' office, forming a list featuring the best names in our roundball history is as easy as can be. After considering this idea, I learned that my good friend Bob Carskadon had pieced together such a list for our football team's history. Carrying that torch on to basketball, I now present to you the MSU all-time All-Name Team for basketball.

Tang Hamilton, 1998-2001

Many of you, like me, remember this wirey forward for State in the early year's of the Rick Stansbury era. A quick google search turned up this picture of Tang with a younger Rick Stansbury.

It's Friday, and I really am trying my hardest to avoid work. That being said, I figured you probably were trying your best to avoid work too. So here's some memes of the "Richie Brown-Nephew-Committment" photo so many of you saw yesterday when Brown used his nephew to announce his decision to sign with State. The baby is adorable, but also has a "lets-be-serious-guys" tone in his face in the picture.
