Mississippi State 30 for 30: Top Play 28--Ducre Clips the Cats

In what makes for back to back trips to the 2007 season on the countdown, Christian Ducre helped power the Bulldogs past the 14th ranked Kentucky Wildcats for a road victory in Lexington, the Bulldogs first road win over ranked team in what was five days shy of a decade (3647 days).

In 2007, the Kentucky Wildcats were enjoying one of their best football season in some time. The squad had picked up a huge home win over LSU and Big Blue had also defeated arch-rival Louisville earlier in the season. The team also had close losses against Florida, and later, Tennessee.

With six wins against two losses and the No. 14 ranking in the country, the Wildcats played host to Mississippi State. In what was a bit of a stunner, the Mississippi State Bulldogs pasted the Wildcats at Commonwealth Stadium 31-14.

With the Bulldogs leading 24-14 with a little over eight minutes to play, Christian Ducre put the game out of reach for Kentucky, helping Mississippi State wrap up their fifth (and perhaps their most surprising) win of the 2007 season. The win was the first for the Bulldogs over a ranked opponent since their 2004 victory over No. 20 Florida in Starkville. The win was also the first road victory over a ranked foe since a November 1 shutout over Auburn in the 1997 season.
