SEC Power Rankings: Week 7

Stacking up the SEC from 1 to 14.

NCAA Football: SEC Media Days Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Every SEC team will have played at least half of their schedule at the conclusion of this weekend coming up. While we have learned a lot, there is still quite a bit to unravel.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (Last Week: 1)

The Tide are beatable, but I don’t know if anyone will actually do it.

#2 Georgia Bulldogs (Last Week: #2)

Georgia continues to look like one of two teams that has a chance to compete against Alabama.

#3 Auburn Tigers (Last Week: #3)

Same goes for the Tigers.

#4 Texas A&M Aggies (Last Week: #5)

I don’t know that I have ever moved a team up after a loss, but I am doing it this week. I am also not one of those that thinks the Aggies’ performance against the Tide will mean a huge turnaround in their season. They showed they can compete, so we’ll see if they stay that way after playing Alabama.

#5 Kentucky Wildcats (Last Week: #5)

Kentucky is 5-1 and will finish with around 8 wins, but I don’t think they are all that great.

#6 South Carolina Gamecocks (Last Week: #8)

I expected South Carolina to win, but I didn’t expect the beat down they gave Arkansas. It was a good win for the Gamecocks.

#7 Mississippi St. Bulldogs (Last Week: #7)

The bye week was much needed, even if it did get fans more time to continue to melt down from the two losses.

#8 LSU Tigers (Last Week: #13)

How so many of these power polls have LSU ahead of Mississippi State, I just don’t know.

#9 Florida Gators (Last Week: #4)

Florida has made it to two straight SEC Championship games, and Florida fans want McIlwain run out of town.

#10 Vanderbilt Commodores (Last Week: #9)

Vanderbilt was already low, so I couldn’t drop them too much further.

#11 Tennessee Volunteers (Last Week: #11)

Butch Jones is still the coach at Tennessee. That’s the joke.

#12 Arkansas Razorbacks (Last Week: #10)

I could probably put Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Missouri in any order here at the bottom.

#13 Ole Miss Rebels (Last Week: #12)

I think Ole Miss is on the verge of quitting. If they lose to Vanderbilt this week, I’ll know they have.

#14 Missouri Tigers (Last Week: #13)

I probably could move Missouri up because they looked better than Arkansas or Ole Miss, but I moved one team up that lost, and I don’t want to do it twice in one week.

That’s this week’s rankings. We’ll be back at it next week.
