Looks like Joe Moorhead is on the move and has started bringing assistant coaches to Starkville.

Joe Moorhead is making moves and adding coaches to his staff in Starkville. Penn State’s Charles Huff will be moving from State College to Mississippi State alongside coach Moorhead. This has been reported by many sources and it looks like MSU is getting a great assistant coach.

Who exactly is Charles Huff? Well, he’s an assistant coach that coached running backs and special teams in his time at Penn State. Before that, Huff was a running backs coach for Western Michigan and the Buffalo Bills. He’s also had special teams coaching experience with Vanderbilt back in 2011, helped coach the offensive lines at Hampton, Maryland, and Tennessee State. Huff also coached tight ends and special teams at Tennessee State.

But beyond his coaching experience, Huff is also an incredibly important recruiter. 24/7 Sports has Huff as their #4 overall recruiter for 2018, making him a huge addition to Moorhead’s coaching staff. Especially with competition from Dan Mullen’s Florida staff for current recruits.

As it stands, it looks like Huff won’t target any of the recruits that he’s currently been in contact with at Penn State, but it shouldn’t be too long until he starts hitting the recruiting trail heavily for Moorhead and Mississippi State.

As for the rest of the coaching staff, Moorhead is seemingly looking to bring in as many guys as he can that have connections to the South and to Mississippi as possible.

Many Mississippi State fans have long complained and been frustrated by the previous coaching staff’s efforts on the recruiting front. With the addition of Charles Huff, it’s possible that those complaints may not carry over to the Moorhead’s group.
