On Wednesday night the Mississippi State Bulldogs faced off against the Little Rock Trojans. The Bulldogs struggled for most of the first half, as they have majority of this year. In the second half, the Bulldogs seemed to pull it together and won the game 64-48.
At the end of the first half, the Bulldogs were only leading by 3. All year, this team has struggled in the first but somehow, they find a way to win in the second half. Now, this Little Rock team was not the best of teams. The Little Rock Trojans only have 3 wins on the season. In other words, Mississippi State made them look a little bit better than they actually are. We did pull together a strong second half, though.
Q Weatherspoon led the Bulldogs with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Q hit the 1,000 point marker to join 36 other Bulldogs to accomplish that at Mississippi State. Abdul Ado had 13 rebounds on the night and has turned into a key player for this team. Tyson Carter is still contributing, but only had 7 points. Carter has not seemed to keep a rhythm this year.
State fans want this team to do something special, but I’m not so sure that this isn’t still a rebuilding year for the Bulldogs. I would say that making the NIT would be a great accomplishment at this point. Maybe next year the Bulldogs will compete to get into the NCAA tournament.
