Mississippi State Defeats Fresno State to Open the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge

Mississippi State’s softball team is currently in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and they’ve gotten their trip started off on the right foot. They faced off against Fresno State in the first game of the weekend and came away with a 4-1 victory.

Alexis Silkwood threw another complete game today and improved her record to 3-0 with the win. Silkwood struck out 4 batters and though she gave up 7 hits, she held Fresno State to 1 run.

MSU has had a hard time scoring this season, but they were able to get their own share of hits today. At the plate, Vann Stuedeman’s team racked up 7 hits. Reggie Harrison was a perfect 3-3 at the plate and Emily Heimberger was 2-3.

Mississippi State advanced to 4-2 on the season with the win. The Bulldogs will face Cal State Fullerton at 10 am tomorrow morning.
