Mississippi State may have had a rough go at it last night, but they certainly didn’t seem too hung up on it. The Bulldogs came out today and dominated Western Illinois in every aspect of the game.
When it came to hitting, Mississippi State was too much for Western Illinois to handle today. The Bulldogs went 10 for 32 at the plate with 7 RBIs and 5 walks drawn.
Cole Gordon, the man with a mullet, had himself one heck of a day at the plate. He went 1 for 2, drew a walk, and was hit by a pitch. In addition to all of that, Gordon was the first Bulldog to hit a home run this season as well.

And it wasn’t just hitting. Andy Cannizaro’s team excelled on the mound as well.
Peyton Plumlee got his first start of the season tonight and impressed everybody with his debut. While on the mound, Plumlee tossed 6.0 innings, striking out 7 and only forfeiting 1 earned run.
Ryan Rigby would relieve Plumlee for the 7th and 8th innings, where he would strike out 2. Trystan Barlow came out for the final frame and finished the game out for the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State will play a double header tomorrow, starting with Western Illinois at noon. They’ll then face off against Texas Tech once that first game is done.
