Mississippi State is now one game away from clinching a share of the SEC regular season title, and they’re two games away from being outright SEC champs. And it’s because the Bulldogs took down a tough Texas A&M team in College Station, where they’ve now only lost two games.
The Bulldogs were led by Victoria Vivians, who put 25 points on the board in Aggieland, with 20 of them coming in the second half. Teaira McCowan also had a big game with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
This game was not an easy win at all. The Bulldogs struggled at times with the Aggies, particularly so in the second half. MSU hasn’t been pushed much this season, and they were given a tough game today.
The Bulldogs and Aggies were tied at half, 30-30. After three quarters, the Aggies actually had a 55-50 lead. MSU needed a strong second half performance from Vivians and a strong defensive presence in the 4th to win the game, and they were able to get both.
Mississippi State is now 27-1 with the win and has done everything to cement themselves as one of the best teams in the nation. They’ll head up to Lexington on Thursday before coming home to take on Tennessee to finish off the season.
And then postseason play begins. First it’ll be the SEC Tournament, then it’s on to the NCAA tourney. They had a historic run last season and they’re even better this season. Let’s see how far they can take this whole thing.
