After defeating Southern Illinois earlier today, Mississippi State claimed a 4-1 victory over North Florida this afternoon. The Bulldogs were led by a strong effort by Alexis Silkwood pitching and Bevia Robinson at the plate.
In Silkwood’s appearance, she actually made history today by setting the school record for strikeouts with the 474th strikeout of her career. Silkwood threw a complete game, her 5th of the year so far.
Alexis Silkwood is one of the best to ever play for @hailstatesb. She just set a new MSU record for strikeouts https://t.co/mfu9v5osJW

Robinson went 3-4 with 2 RBIs today and is one of Mississippi State’s best hitters. On the season so far, Robinson has gone .480 at the plate. Her speed and ability to get timely hits have helped the Bulldogs tremendously this weekend and throughout the season.
Mississippi State advances to 4-0 on the weekend and they’re now 10-3 for the season with both wins today.
The win over North Florida sets Vann Stuedeman and the Bulldogs up for the championship game of the February Freezer Tournament. Their opponent will be the winner between Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois.
