Andy Cannizaro and the Bulldogs grabbed a couple more wins today, both in blowout fashion. The Bulldogs defeated Marist 12-4 to start the day and they followed that up by taking Indiana State down 9-1 this evening.

Graham Ashcraft took the mound in the first game, throwing 95 pitches over 5 innings and striking out 4 in the process. Ashcraft gave up 4 hits but he held the Red Foxes to 2 earned runs.

Jacob Barton, Cole Gordon, and Spencer Price would all come from the bullpen to pitch for State, with Barton and Gordon each striking out a batter in 1.1 and 1.0 innings respectively. Price came in to the game and struck out 5 of the 7 batters he faced while also earning a save.

Peyton Plumlee pitched in the second game, one where the Bulldogs never trailed at any moment, and he got his second win of the season. Plumlee had one hell of an outing as he threw 91 pitches in 8 innings, striking out 5 and holding Indiana State to 3 hits.

Brent Rooker continued to dominate at the plate, as he went 4 for 7 with a double, a home run, 6 RBIs, and 2 walks on the day.

Andy Cannizaro’s Bulldogs are now 6-2 and Mississippi State will play Marist again tomorrow to close out the weekend. State will then pack their bags and head up to Eugene, Oregon to face off with the University of Oregon.
