Mississippi State Softball Wins Big in Hammond, Louisiana

The softball team faced off against the lions of Southeastern.

Mississippi State won big on the road in Hammond, Louisiana last night. The lady dawgs finished up this game with the final score of 9-1.

The Bulldogs hit well on the day, racking up a total of 10 hits, dwarfing to the Lions’ 4. Alexis Silkwood started in the circle for the Bulldogs and performed well. MSU’s leader in strikeouts threw a total of 75 pitches, 45 of which were strikes. She only allowed 3 hits and held the Lions to 0 runs.

As was mentioned earlier, the MSU hit well, with 10 hits overall. Bevia Robinson was responsible for 3 of those hits, continuing her hot streak on the season. She scored two runs in her 4 at bats.

The next top hitter for the dogs was third baseman, Caroline Seitz. Seitz had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Pitcher Alexis Silkwood was awarded the win for the game after being pulled and replaced by Cassady Knudsen, who finished off the day allowing 3 hits and one run.

With this win, the dogs improve their record to 12-3 adding another with to their now 8 game win streak. This gives the Bulldogs now have a .800 win percentage. MSU is set to face off against South Alabama on Thursday at 6pm in Starkville.
