What a win for the Bulldogs. All week the National Media could not stop talking about Kelsey Plum. And rightfully so. I thought that MSU had held her defensively pretty good yet she still scored 29 points. Just a tremendous player. If she is not the #1 overall pick in the WNBA, then something is wrong with that team.
But the player to talk about was not her. It was Teaira McCowan. In fact it may be time to rename Mississippi State as twitter pointed out.

26 Points 12 Rebounds including 8 offensive rebounds and 6 Blocks. Arguably the best game of her career so far. She was making every play in the 4th Quarter.
There is a misconception among the MSU Fanbase. This team is not going as far as Victoria Vivians takes MSU. It is going as far as Teaira McCowan is taking MSU and her play lately has been the dominant center that I personally hoped to see when I found out MSU was signing a 6’7 Center. MSU has a lot of shooting guards like Blair Schaefer or Roshunda Johnson. But only one player gives MSU the size advantage consistently and McCowan proves why.
First thoughts on Sunday’s matchup against Baylor. It is going to be very tough. Obviously Baylor just took care of Louisville easily. And they have 6’7 Center as well. In fact they have 2 or 3 great forwards. I do like MSU’s guards better which is what is going to need to step up for MSU. But it will be the toughest game of the season by far. Baylor is better than South Carolina.
The Elite Eight is Sunday Night at 6:30 pm against Baylor on ESPN. The game will also be available on WatchESPN and by radio in Starkville or Tupelo. If you have the opportunity to, come watch MSU make history. First ever Elite Eight game they have played in and have the opportunity to reach the Final Four. It is 3 + hours closer to Oklahoma City then it is to Omaha NE from Starkville FYI.
Certainly a historic night for Mississippi State Athletics. A preview for Baylor will be out Sunday. And one final thing. It appears the “experts” didn’t do their research on Mississippi State...
