He has lived up to expectations.

Despite some injuries, oversleeping, and some occasional expected freshman decisions, Lamar Peters has matured and added an exciting element to Mississippi State basketball with his fearless attitude, spectacular handles, and shooting ability. Averaging 10.9 points and 3.4 assists, Peters was acknowledged for his impressive campaign by being named to the All-SEC Freshman Team. The future looks exciting for the explosive guard.

Weatherspoon, like Peters, was named to the All-conference Freshman Team last season; this season, he has been selected to the All-SEC Second Team.

The Velma Jackson alum has build on his impressive freshman year. In his second season in Starkville, Weatherspoon is averaging 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, despite a season full of unfortunate injuries.

Behind the play of both Peters and Weatherspoon, Mississippi State looks to make a run in the SEC Tournament starting Wednesday evening versus LSU.
