Join me as I watch the 2017 NFL Draft and share my thoughts here, on this blog site that may or may not be focused on NFL football.
I’ll be posting my opinions throughout the night from pick #1 all the way to #32, so feel free to sit back, kick your feet up, turn the TV to your preferred sports coverage channel and keep this tab open, cause were going all night baby!
LIVE BLOG:
10:43 p.m.: With the final pick of the first round, the New Orleans Saints pick Ryan Ramczyk, offensive tackle out of Wisconsin. Not a sexy pick but you have to protect Drew Brees as he nears senior citizen qualification.
With that, that’s the end of my live blog for the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Not as fun as last years with much less illegal narcotics, can’t win ‘em all though. Thanks for staying up with me, it’s been a blast.
10:33 p.m.: We are moving people! Seattle trades down AGAIN with San Fransisco, so now the 49rs will pick #31. With the selection, they took Reuben Foster, linebacker out of Alabama. It took a little, but once the Alabama players started coming off the board, the floodgates opened.
10:30 p.m.: The end is neigh! With pick #30, the Pittsburgh Steelers select TJ Watt, brother of the one JJ Watt. Hey Mr and Mrs Watt, chill out with the “Junior” names. Be creative.
10:26 p.m.: Trade alert pt 5!!!! Cleveland gets antsy and trades up back into the first round giving them three first round picks in 2017. With #29, the Browns select David Njkou, tight end out of Miami. Cleveland my early leader in the clubhouse to win day one of the 2017 draft.
10:23 p.m.: The Dallas Dak’s select Taco Charlton at #28 overall. Adding some depth to their defensive line, Dak is now excited that he won’t have to only share the weight of the team with just Zeke and Dez.
10:18 p.m.: Another selection out of the self-proclaimed DB U, Louisiana State University. Tre’Davious White joins the Bills Mafia in Buffalo. Tally another one down for the SEC.
10:10 p.m.: Trade alert pt 4!!!! Seattle trades down, surrendering the 26th overall pick to the Atlanta Falcons, moving up five spots. Falcons give up 3rd and 7th round picks. With the 26th pick, the Falcons take Takkarist McKinley, OLB from UCLA. Incredible story about this guy as he carries a large picture of his grandmother on stage with him.
10:00 p.m.: What’s this? The Browns are attempting to actually have a successful draft? With the 25th overall pick, Cleveland selects Jabrill Peppers, safety from Michigan. Who knows how any of these guys will actually play but it looks like they are really trying to get the right ones. Peppers and Garrett could make the Browns defense very unbad, very soon.
9:55 p.m. : At 24, Gareon Conley comes off the board, a corner from Ohio State. Ohio State seems to be the early leader for the winner of most first rounders. 7 picks left and the Browns are back on the clock. Down the stretch we go!
9:50 p.m.: With the 23rd pick, the New York Giants pick Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram, who trades in one red and blue jersey for another. Will this be the first Hugh Freeze product to finally make a positive impact in the NFL? Only time will tell.
9:43 p.m.: Rapid fire! The Miami Dolphins select another SEC player, this time out of Missouri. Charles Harris, #22 overall will soon be looking for a home in South Beach. Beats Myles Garrett’s situation if you ask me.
9:40 p.m.: After a painfully long commercial break, we’re back with the #21 pick: Jarrad Davis, linebacker out of Florida. Adam Schefter is trying to get me way too excited about trades that happened an hour and a half ago. The draft should be 30 minutes total, all 7 rounds.
9:34 p.m.: We have an offensive linemen off the board! Garrett Bolles from Utah is selected by the Denver Broncos at #20 overall. Nothing to get you going like your team drafting a O lineman. Really gets you fired up. 12 picks left, let’s see if we can end this thing before 11, I really need to study at least a little.
9:29 p.m.: Another pick, another Alabama player off the board. Tight end OJ Howard goes to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at #19 overall. Huge pick up for the Bucs to get a steal like Howard at #19. The man is the next Antonio Gates, call it in.
9:21 p.m.: With their second pick of the night, the Titans go defensive and select Adoree’ Jackson, cornerback, #18 overall. I’m sorry it has taken me this long to address it, but oh my these draft hats are atrocious. Too much shininess and overblown logos. Do less, New Era.
9:19 p.m.: It only took one to get them moving off the board but here comes Alabama. The Washington Redskins select defensive end Jonathan Allen, ending what most would consider a considerable slide for Allen out of what I personally thought was top 5 range.
9:09 p.m.: The Ravens end the drought of Alabama players! Corner Marlon Humphrey is headed to Baltimore as the #16 overall pick in the draft. Bit of a down year for the Tide it seems.
9:02 p.m.: At #15, the Indianapolis Colts take Malik Hooker, safety from Ohio State. Ohio State has now had two draft picks so far, Alabama has had zero. We are also now at the two-hour mark, halfway through round one. It’s going to be a long night, boys and girls.
8:53 p.m.: The host city Eagles nab an SEC guy, taking Derek Barnett, defensive end from Tennessee. Big pick up to get a Champion of Life on your roster, imo.
8:46 p.m.: The Arizona Cardinals go go defense in this offense-havy draft so far, selecting Haasan Reddick, an OLB from Temple. Hooray for small schools!
8:36 p.m.: Texans select Clemson QB Deshaun Watson #12 overall. This is less than ideal for Jaguars fans and the rest of the AFC South in general. But hey, maybe it’ll be a respectable division this year.
8:31 p.m.: TRADE ALERT PT 3. The Houston Texans trade up to #12, moving Cleveland down to #23. Draft a QB, Texans, I dare you.
8:28 p.m.: Smartly, the New Orleans Saints address their atrocious defense and selects Marshon Lattimore, CB from Ohio State. Maybe they’ll be able to win games without scoring 50 points now.
8:22 p.m.: They pulled a fast one on me and announced a trade while I was checking basketball scores! The Bills pick up three future picks to move down to #27. Apparently, the Chiefs really wanted Mahomes.
8:19 p.m.: Patrick Mahomes is the first quarterback taken in the 2017 draft! Kansas City gets John Gruden’s favorite QB in the draft, so if Gruden likes him, he’s gotta be pretty good. Right?
8:12 p.m.: The Cincinnati Bengals select the fastest 40 runner in combine history, John Ross. AJ Green and Ross is going to be a terrifying duo to face.
8:05 p.m.: Another RB gone, Christian McCaffery is going to Carolina. Per screaming Panthers fan on ESPN, “this is our year.” Bold.
8:00 p.m.: We now have the second WR off the board with the San Diego Los Angeles Chargers taking Mike Williams out of Clemson. Much like the pace of this draft, my updates have slowed. I am sorry but it is finals week and I should be studying instead of this so I can only do what I can.
7:48 p.m.: Jamal Adams is our first cryer of the night, as it appears he’s going to the Jets. Tears of joy or despair? Again, only time will tell.
7:43 p.m.: Looks like the Titans are giving Mariota a new weapon in Corey Davis. Interesting pick and I hope he never catches a pass for them. Frick the Titans.
7:36 p.m.: And Jags take Fournette. Am I surprised? Absolutely not. Am I happy? can’t honestly say I’m all that excited. We have no line for him to run behind. Oh well, I hope he is everything he was at LSU and more.
7:29 p.m.: Wow, for the first time in what feels like forever, the first commercial break isn’t during the Jaguars’ pick. We’re moving up in the world! P.s. I’m a yuuuuuuuuge Jags fan.
7:22 p.m.: Trubisky is a Bear! That is an incredibly steep price for a guy with 13 college starts. Will he be as average as Jay Cutler? We’ll find out soon enough.
7:20 p.m.: Excuse me, there has been a robbery in Philadelphia.
John Lynch is doing work. 49ers get 67, 111 and 3rd round pick in 2018 to move down one spot

7:16 p.m.: TRADE ALERT, TRADE ALERT. The Chicago Bears are the first team to move up, nabbing the #2 pick from San Fransisco, who goes to #3. Guess when you want your guy, you go get him.
7:14 p.m.: Garrett it is. Have fun in Cleveland, guy. Maybe they can have him play quarterback, too.
7:05 p.m.: Yes, yes, yes, give me all the drunk, angry Philly fans booing Roger Goodell. What a schmuck. Cleveland is officially on the clock, try not to screw this one up, guys.
7:03 p.m.: Myles Garrett at #1 is questionable imo. Really didn’t do much in is most recent trip to Starkville, if I do remember correctly.
6:56 p.m.: If this year’s draft is half as entertaining as the 2016 draft was, this is going to be a fun night. Give me all the trades and leaked pictures of players smoking reefer.
6:46 p.m.: If Mitch Trubisky goes to Cleveland I am going to laugh uncontrollably.
6:45 p.m.: T-15 minutes till launch in Philly. I have deep concern for the futures of these 32 individuals that I have never met. I hope they all find good homes with coaches that will build them up and turn them into men of great character.
