Mississippi State simply couldn’t keep up with Texas A&M as they started the series in College Station

The #17 Texas A&M Aggies (34-13, 14-8 SEC) got the best of the Bulldogs (30-17, 14-8 SEC) last night. MSU fell to the Aggies 9-2.

The Bulldogs fell behind early and couldn’t recover as Konnor Pilkington would struggle in his time on the mound. In the 3.1 innings that he pitched, Pilkington gave up 5 hits and 7 earned runs.

Pilkington’s uncharacteristic struggles weren’t the only reason why the Bulldogs fell though. Mississippi State struggled at the plate as well, getting 7 hits but only 2 runs. The Bulldogs ended up striking out 11 times.

One of the few bright spots for the Bulldogs was the play of Tenner Poole. Poole went 1 for 4 at the plate, which isn’t overly impressive, but he did have this gem of a catch.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back and end the 3 game losing streak they’re currently on at 6:30 tonight. The series finale is tomorrow at 1:00.
