Ben Howland and his staff have been busy on the recruiting trail lately. It wasn’t that long ago that Howland earned a commitment from 5-Star Reggie Perry. Today, Howland earned a commitment from another highly sought after forward, 4-Star DJ Stewart.
2018 athletic wing DJ Stewart just verbally committed to Mississippi State, a source tells Scout.

Stewart is a 6-6 small forward weighing in at 190 pounds with a considerable amount of potential. He’s the second highest ranked recruit in Mississippi, per 247sports.com, and there’s a good chance that he’ll contribute early on, should he end up in Starkville.
The talented wing, at 6-6, could play a couple of different positions, depending the lineup and match ups that Howland wants to have on the court at any given time. Given that the only player of similar stature on the roster for 2017-2018 that played significant minutes a year ago was junior Xavian Stapleton, it seems like Stewart could potentially earn a meaningful role sooner rather than later with the Bulldogs.
