Mississippi State’s recruiting class just got a little bit bigger. Dan Mullen has added yet another recruit to the class of 2018, and he beat out the likes of Michigan, LSU, Alabama, and Georgia to do so. MSU just earned a commitment from Fabian Franklin, the top running back in the state of Mississippi for the 2018 recruiting cycle.

Coming out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Franklin stands at 5-11 and weighs in at 200 pounds, just about the perfect mold for a running back in the SEC. His build allows him to complement MSU’s other running back recruit La’damian Webb, 5-9 and 190 pounds, should they both end up coming out of the same backfield in a couple of years.
The commitment from Franklin is huge for a multitude of reasons. One, it means that Mullen might be able to keep Mississippi’s top recruits in state and away from other SEC teams (247sports’ crystal ball prediction has Franklin going with LSU over everybody else). Two, it means that Mullen is able to take advantage of the mess going on in Oxford and is able to keep Mississippi’s top recruits away from Ole Miss.
Our own Justin Strawn and Alex Gomez have both already discussed the possibility of Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs taking control of the state of Mississippi going forward.
