We’re all ready for the 2017 Mississippi St. Bulldogs football season to get started. We’re all anxiously awaiting, as I am myself. So what better way to pass the time than to preview the season through GIFs. And since I love GIFs, that is exactly what we are going to do.
Charleston Southern Buccaneers
Charleston Southern is a good team from the FCS level. But Charleston Southern is a shotgun wishbone team that Todd Grantham has had the entire offseason to prepare for. While Mississippi State should not overlook them, the reality is they are an FCS team and the Bulldogs are not. This game just needs to get here.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
I hate the idea of playing Louisiana Tech. They’re a good team, especially on the offensive side of the football, and they have historically given the Bulldogs fits. While I think Mississippi State will win the game, I don’t think it will be easy.
LSU Tigers
I believe firmly Mississippi State can beat LSU this season, but this season might hinge on how the Bulldogs do against LSU. It’s the first of three very tough games for the Bulldogs and while I’m optimistic, I’m also extremely nervous.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs are a going to be a good team, but this is a team that went 7-5 in 2016. For some reason, people think they are going to make a giant leap forward and win the East in 2017. They should be good on offense and great in the front seven. But there is room to hurt them in the secondary, and this is where the Bulldogs will have a chance to exploit Georgia. Will they? I don’t know, but I’m not as convinced this game is a sure loss as many other people are.
Auburn Tigers
There’s a lot of hype around Auburn because of Jarret Stidham. I’m cautiously buying into it somewhat because, while there isn’t much of a sample size, there’s still more of a sample size with him than there was in Jeremy Johnson. If Stidham can be close to what people are saying, Auburn will be really good. But until we see Auburn in action, I don’t know what to make of the Tigers or this game.
BYU Cougars
The game against BYU will be an interesting one. Mississippi State has more talent and the game is in Starkville, so I assume the Bulldogs will be favored. But this will be the first game after a brutal stretch, and I don’t know how the Bulldogs will respond. BYU is not going to be a bad team, so this game could a bunch of different directions.
Kentucky Wildcats
The first seven games against Kentucky in the Dan Mullen era saw the Bulldogs emerge victorious. In 2016, Kentucky walked away with a win after a field goal went through the uprights in the waning seconds of the game. In 2017, Mississippi State needs to restore order and get back to what they always do against Kentucky: win football games.
Texas A&M Aggies
This is a weird GIF, and I am using it because Texas A&M is weird. They have strange chants, they hiss, and they have yell leaders instead of cheerleaders. Don’t try to figure them out, because you never will.
Massachusetts Minutemen
This GIF is perfect for the UMass game, because I’m not saying it is a trap game, but it could be a trap game. If the Bulldogs have exceeded expectations and have only one or two losses entering this game, there would be a huge showdown the following week with Bama. And we all remember Mississippi State struggled with UMass a year ago, so this could become a trap game. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Alabama Crimson Tide
I spoke with Cole Cubelic after he made his tweet which rocked the college football world claiming Mississippi State would beat Alabama. I really want this to be the reality in which we live, but until I see Mississippi State beat Alabama, it’s hard to believe that it will actually happen.
Arkansas Razorbacks
The last two seasons, the game between Arkansas and Mississippi State produced some serious offensive fireworks. I hope the defense of the Bulldogs has improved enough to cut down on some of those fireworks, but it wouldn’t surprise me if this game had a bunch of scoring.
Ole Miss Rebels
The Egg Bowl will be nasty. Ole Miss fans will be waiting to hear the final verdict from the Committee on Infractions, and they might have heard it by this point, and they will keep on blaming Mississippi State for their problems instead of themselves. Ole Miss could have a tough season and their will to summon up a strong performance might be gone. But this is the Egg Bowl, and if there is a chance the Rebels could do serious damage to the Mississippi State season, they might be able to find it. I don’t think it will happen, but this game could be more interesting depending on how both teams seasons unfold.
