Jeffery Simmons had a spectacular week this week, and the SEC is recognizing his efforts. After a phenomenal performance against the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech, Simmons has been named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Jeffery Simmons had two touchdowns, a blocked punt, a blocked extra point, and a recovered fumble during the game in Ruston. Looking at those numbers, Bill Martin brings up some important points that are worth discussing:

All of that said, it’s time that we start pushing for a Jeffery Simmons for the Piesman Trophy campaign. Because, well Jeffery Simmons deserves the Piesman Trophy for his noteworthy play on Saturday.
