As A Houstonian, Jace Christmann is My New Favorite Mississippi State Player

NCAA Football: Louisiana State at Mississippi State Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

Mississippi State University just thumped the hell out of Louisiana State University. The 30 point victory over the then #12 ranked team in the nation is virtually unheard of here in Starkville, and it was perfect in every single way that it could be.

And where MSU was most perfect was field goal kicking. Just as the Bulldogs have struggled to beat LSU historically, MSU has struggled with field goal kicking over the past few seasons.

But not on Saturday night.

And why were the Bulldogs so successful at kicking field goals on Saturday night? Well, it was Jace Christmann. Who is Jace Christmann, you ask? Well, he’s a Houstonian. And, as a fellow Houstonian, he’s my new favorite player.

From Christmann’s bio:

CAREER: Walk-on kicker and punter looking to see his first career action.

2016 TRUE FRESHMAN SEASON: Dressed for several games in 2016 but earned a redshirt after not seeing any action.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Memorial High School in Houston before joining the Bulldogs during August 2016 camp … Voted District 18-6A’s top punter as a senior in 2015.

PERSONAL: Born John Christmann on June 17, 1997 … Majoring in petroleum engineering … Twitter handle is @JaceChristmann.

Wait, what? That’s his bio? Seriously? *Does a quick double check*

Yup. That’s the entirety of his bio.

Huh.

The savior of Mississippi State special teams needs a better bio than this. We need facts. We need stories of his greatness. We need to know his favorite place to eat spaghetti.

Anyway, let’s look at his bio and check what we have to work with. Starting with his major, petroleum engineering. That is: 1. very impressive and 2. very Houstonian of him. Seriously. The town that produces such massive quantities of oil that it is often called The Energy Capital of The World has produced a guy that might go to produce more oil.

For what it’s worth, Houston is also known as The Bayou City, Screwston, Clutch City, Space City, and The City of Lean. It has a lot of nicknames. They’re all wonderful.

But back to Christmann’s bio, it needs more info. It needs more work. He’s worked too hard as a walk on to not have more information there. I mean, you can find out that Nick Fitzgerald is a huge Eric Church fan from his bio. You can find out that Jeffery Simmons’ favorite NFL player is JJ Watt (shoutout to Houston, again).

But there’s really no information about Jace Christmann. That needs to change. He is, in fact, my new favorite Mississippi State player. Partially because he made 3 field goals on 3 field goal attempts. Also because he’s a Houstonian.
