Glimpses of Promise

Mississippi State Men’s Basketball showed they could be offensively aggressive at times.

Mississippi State, though not winning the game against Ole Miss, has shown glimpses of promise. Let’s take a look at some players that have the ability to take this team to the next level.

Offensively, Aric Holman is a big key to Mississippi State’s success this season with his inside game and ability to shoot the three pointer. When Quinndary Weatherspoon made that monster dunk over the Ole Miss player, Dominik Olejniczak, it showed some aggressiveness that we haven’t been seeing enough of. Also, Lamar Peters’ speed and quick crossovers make for an entertaining offensive possession.

Defensively, Abdul Ado is a big body in the post and tremendous at protecting the rim. Nick Weatherspoon, a true freshman, has not disappointed this season; he has made some key plays on both sides of the ball. Lastly, E.J. Datcher provides his size and length and is a core player coming off the bench.

This team has shown strength even with a weak schedule so far. Mississippi State, now 1-1 in SEC play, will be up against a good Florida Gators team on the road Wednesday.
