The first CPF poll has been revealed, as the committee has granted Mississippi State the 18th spot. The Bulldogs’ season has been a roller coaster thus far, as we have seen it all from this year’s squad. Coming off a hard earned win over Texas A&M, Mississippi State has shown a return to form.

Mississippi State will welcome Louisiana Tech to Starkville this Saturday, as they are sure to ride their momentum. Given their season, the Bulldogs should be happy with their 18th ranking. With Alabama, Arkansas, and arch-rival Ole Miss ahead, it will be interesting to see what Mississippi State puts forth in their remaining three regular season games.

Aside from Alabama, the Bulldogs should be able to take care of the three mentioned above. Though a trip to the playoff is unlikely, a bowl game is still in the cards. While we can say whatever we want about a subpar season, a top 25 ranking is a top 25 ranking and the Bulldogs have a reason to celebrate.

The crowd will be a riot come Saturday and the 18th ranked Bulldogs should show out at Davis Wade. With a chance to play spoiler against the Crimson Tide and/or emerge victorious in this year’s Egg Bowl, Mississippi State has a chance to make two monumental statements to finish out the year. It will be an interesting last four games and the 18th ranked Bulldogs should be up for each challenge.
