Good morning, Stark Vegas! Men’s basketball decided to say “Screw our past, let’s just make it rain 3’s” in the only MSU sporting event from the weekend. Finals also started for State students and many other schools across the country (including myself, shoutout James Madison). If you’re reading this while studying, good luck!
MBB sets record in win against Clemson
One of the biggest points of criticism for Bulldog basketball was its three-point shooting woes. Well, the team had 19 (!!) three-pointers against Clemson in an 82-71 win. Lamar Peters had eight 3’s himself, totaling with 28 points. Quinndary Weatherspoon added 20 and Aric Hollman with 16. State faces Cincinnati on Saturday in Stark Vegas.
Four-star OT commits to Mississippi State
Charles Cross, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, verbally committed to State. According to 247 Sports, he’s the 94th best prospect in the country and No. 12 in his position. Cross had offers from Ole Miss, USC, Florida State, Auburn, LSU and more.
It’s going to be a slow week for MSU sports, but it’s finals week. The focus is on school. Let’s get into some national headlines.
No. 1 Gonzaga goes down
No. 7 Tennessee took down the undefeated Gonzaga Bulldogs 76-73 on Sunday. I think the Vols are really establishing themselves as a clear favorite to win the SEC.
Kyler Murray wins the Heisman
Nick Fitzgerald was robbed.
In all seriousness, if you watched the ceremony like I did, that was a disaster. Murray absolutely deserved it, but when the guy butchered Tua Tagovailoa’s last name when announcing the finalists, there was no doubt Murray had won.
Army beats Navy 17-10
If you bet the under, you won. For the 13th consecutive time, the under won in this game (this stat was taken from /u/EatDrinkandBeatNavy on Reddit).
Dolphins take down New England via wild final play
Watch this. You won’t regret it.
