Jeffery Simmons is heading to the pros, set to jump off the Sunday screens. Having lit up his Mississippi State tenure, it is no secret that Simmons has elevated his draft stock as of late. While it is safe to say that he will be selected as a first rounder, likely in the top 20, it is no mistake that the Mississippi State has produced some of the best defensive lineman in the league to this day.

Set to join a group of former Bulldog linemen that includes Philadelphia Eagle and Super Bowl champion Fletcher Cox, as well as Kansas City Chief and rising star in Chris Jones, look for Simmons to join those two in terms of playing style and star power. He rounded out his career at Mississippi State with 159 total tackles, six sacks, five forced fumbles, and seven passes defensed. Like Cox and Jones, Simmons is known for his versatility as shown in the stats mentioned above.

The Mississippi State native from Macon stands at 6’4 weighing 300 pounds, both fit for the pros. But the junior standout wearing 94 must take composure on and off the field into account. If able to nail every interview and show ability to keep it together when things get tough, his stock may go even higher. Expect Simmons to earn the likes of scouts, owners, coaches, and more.

Overall, Simmons has the raw talent and ideal skillset of the modern day defensive lineman. Look for big things from him and the name Simmons to be mentioned more than once come combine time and the draft itself. Versatility is the word and in today’s game, more important than ever on the defensive side of the ball, hence Simmons’ rising stock.
