What to Watch For
Roshunda Johnson’s hot streak:
Johnson has been nearly perfect as of late, having taken on any role necessary. Coming off one of her best outings against the Aggies, Johnson has shown no signs of slowing down. Look for her to fill the stat line on both ends of the floor, most notably on defense. A steady one-two punch between Johnson and sniper Blair Schaefer is sure to put the Tigers on their heels, as both have been assassins from beyond the arc.
Morgan William’s leadership:
While she has reemerged as a scorer, William’s vision is at its best, resulting in higher assist totals. Her unselfish play and willingness to lead have gone a long way, as shown this past Sunday. She has earned the trust of her teammates, successfully taking on a leadership role as a senior. Look for William to be more confident as a scorer and facilitator.
Prediction
The second best team in the nation will make it look easy once again under the lights. Mississippi State’s confidence is through the roof and head coach Vic Schaefer has his team ready for any challenge. The Hump is the nation’s most intimidating venue for opponents, and Auburn will feel its hostility this evening. At 28-0, Mississippi State has earned its first SEC title, but 29-0 is sure to turn eyes toward the ultimate goal, a national championship.
