EDINBURG, Texas. – Mississippi State’s contest against UT-Rio Grande Valley on Monday was cancelled in the bottom of the fourth inning due to fog.

The game was knotted up at 0-0 through three innings until the Diamond Dawgs scored four runs in the fourth frame.

The Diamond Dawgs got the scoring going after Luke Alexander reached home on a Marshall Gilbert groundout.

After a two-out hit by pitcher extended the inning, The Diamond Dawgs had three straight hits to make it a 4-0 ball game.

The game was cancelled in the bottom of the fourth after a triple by UTRG that was lost by Jake Mangum due to the fog.

After the triple, the umpires met with the head coaches of both teams, and the group determined to cancel the game. Stats and the result of the game are forfeited by both teams. MSU will play again Wednesday against McNeese State at Joe Miller Ballpark in Lake Charles, La. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
