Mississippi State Midweek Contests Preview

The Diamond Dawgs host Alcorn State and Texas Southern in a pair of midweek contests.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following an opening Southeastern Conference series with Vanderbilt, Mississippi State is set to have a pair of midweek contests on Tuesday and Wednesday at Dudy Noble Field.

Mississippi State (10-10, 0-3 SEC) will host Alcorn State (6-12) on Tuesday and Texas Southern (6-13) on Wednesday. Both games are expected to start with a 6:30 p.m. CT. first pitch.

MSU is coming off a three losses in its SEC opener vs. Vanderbilt, and have lost four straight games.

For Tuesday’s game, Mississippi State’s lefty, Zach Neff (1-2, 2.63 ERA), is expected to be up against Alcorn State’s Regynold Johnson (0-0, 10.50 ERA).

The Diamond Dawgs are 15-0 all-time against Alcorn state. Wednesday’s matchup between Mississippi State and Texas Southern will be the first time to the two programs have faced each other in baseball.
