It is safe to say that this year's MSU baseball team has not overachieved this season. With an overall record of (14-15) and a conference record of (2-7), the Diamond Dawgs have had a hard time getting any momentum this season. Hopefully, they can get back on track against Southern University who has an overall record of (7-18).

There have been many obstacles for this year's team. The Bulldogs have a lot of young talent to build on, and they need it after the departure of Triple Crown Winner Brent Rooker along with impact seniors such as Ryan Gridley, Cody Brown, and Josh Love. To make things worse, their head coach/hitting development instructor was released after the season opener against Southern Miss. The combination of these things have definitely made things much harder for the Bulldogs.

Despite all of the struggles, the Dawgs still have time to turn the season around. This matchup will be played today at the New Dude in Starkville, MS at 6:30 PM CST. Expect cooler temperatures around game time.
